Does this song sound familiar?
Some months ago "Barbara's Rhubarb Bar" went viral with people singing along, translating it into their languages and dancing away to its tune around the globe. Thus it became a fun and entertaining ambassador of the German language and culture.
The song plays with the specific characteristic of German which allows to construct compound nouns of infintite length by adding additional words like in "Rhabarber-Bar-Barbaren-Bart-Barbier-Barber-Shop" which is especially big fun with all the alliterations.
Our children love the lyrics by Bodo Wartke along with Marti Fischer's music who gave us permission to present their song in Schoolovision which we are very grateful for.
Enjoy the performance and dance with us if you like!
Congrats to this entry! All the goodies are there, apart from rhubarb cake, juice and plants as well as barbaric barbers, there are happy kids singing and dancing, having a lot of fun and almost swallowing fire (hope no lips got burned). Well done Germany and good luck!
